The Griffin-Spalding County School System (GSCS) is proud to announce the start of construction on a 24,000-square-foot bus maintenance facility, a modern hub that will enhance transportation operations and better support the needs of students and families across the district.
The state-of-the-art facility is designed by PBK Architects and is being constructed by Bowen & Watson, Inc., a trusted partner in delivering high-quality educational facilities. Once complete, the building will provide expanded space for bus service and repair, training and improved operational efficiency for the district’s transportation team.
This project is funded through the Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (E-SPLOST), demonstrating the community’s ongoing commitment to investing in education without raising property taxes.
“Reliable student transportation is essential to learning, and this new facility will allow us to more efficiently maintain our fleet of school buses, ensuring optimal safety,” said Interim Superintendent Dr. Donald Warren. “We are thankful for our community’s support of E-SPLOST, which allows us to invest in projects that directly benefit our students every day.”
Board of Education Chairman R. Syntel Brown stated, “This facility isn’t just bricks and walls, it is a major investment in our operations, in our team and most importantly, in the safety and success of our scholars. A huge thank you to the people of Griffin-Spalding, the voters, taxpayers and constituents, for saying “YES” and passing this measure. Y’all trusted us with your E-SPLOST dollars and today, you’re seeing that trust turn into progress. Shoutout to our transportation crew, bus drivers, monitors and mechanics for ensuring our scholars get to learn and back home safe every day. This building is a salute to the work you do.”
Construction is now underway, with completion anticipated in Spring 2026.
