It has been an exciting few weeks for our Beaverbrook 5th graders! Makenzie Justice represented our school at the GSCS Social Studies Fair, won 2nd place, and will now be headed to the Regional Social Studies Fair! Bentley Mendez participated in the Griffin RESA Regional Literacy Days competition, and won 3rd place for Poetry Recitation! Congratulations to both of these students! Beaverbrook Families, On Monday, February 10th, we will host our next Family Engagement Activity, "Wal-Mart Math Night," at the Griffin Wal-Mart from 4:30-6:30. While you complete your grocery shopping, your students can tag along and complete some fun, "real-world" math activities and earn a prize! The class with the most participants will receive a prize from Mr. McGavin!

On January 16, GSCS hosted its 2nd Annual District Social Studies Fair. Students from across the district demonstrated their research and interview skills through the lens of social studies inquiry. There was a high level of participation from students in grades 3-10, with 46 projects representing 13 schools. According to the Georgia Council for the Social Studies rules, only grades 5-12 are eligible to advance to the Regional Social Studies Fair. Sixteen projects were selected to advance to the West Regional Social Studies Fair which will take place on March 15, 2025, at Langston Hughes High School in Fairburn.
