In partnership with Middle Georgia State University, GRCCA is proud to host the only FAA-approved Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) program on a high school campus in Georgia! GRCCA students will complete the General portion of the AMT program and can continue in the program at MGA’s School of Aviation to complete the Airframe & Powerplant portion of the curriculum. Recently, GSCS students submitted their original works for the annual Young Georgia Authors Writing Competition. The purpose of the Young Georgia Authors (YGA) writing competition is to encourage students to develop enthusiasm for and expertise in their writing, to provide a context to celebrate their writing successes, and to recognize student achievement in arts and academics. Congratulations to these system winners!

Today is National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day. Thank you to all of our school resource officers for keeping our students, staff, schools and community safe!
We love our amazing school nurses led by School Nursing Services Supervisor Melissa Dingler, RN. Today was one more example of their continual preparation to provide excellent care for our students. Today, Jon Ramsey, President and Co-Founder of Georgia Asthma Coalition and author of Georgia Senate Bill 126, trained GSCS Nurses in emergency use of albuterol and epinephrine in the school setting. Senate Bill 126 allows schools to stock albuterol and epinephrine to be uses in perceived respiratory or allergic emergencies. He also provided stock albuterol and respiratory care supplies for our district. Thank you school nurses!
Spalding High School FCCLA students had a great time advocating at the state capitol earlier this week. In their visit, they met House Representatives Teddy Reese and Dr. Karen Mathiak.
