GSCS Secretaries, Bookkeepers and Clerks got equipped for the road ahead at the 2026 GSCS Clerical Academy yesterday at SCTC. Sessions included customer service, student data, compliance and finance, student services and operational essentials. Keynote Speaker Dr. Kimberly Anderson spoke about self-care and the importance of making choices that support their well-being, resilience and effectiveness. They are on the right route for a successful new school year! Thanks to all of the sponsors who helped make this a great day!

Today’s GSCS Back to School Celebration brought all 1400+ staff together for a motivational kick-off to the 2026-27 school year!
Student leaders welcomed the staff and were emcees for the event. Three GSCS Transportation staff (who have worked for GSCS for a combined 146 years!) kicked off the morning with song. Staff were inspired, moved and motivated by Educator, Author, CEO, and Professional Leadership Coach Jimmy Casas, who was the keynote speaker. A lot of staff recognition occurred with the naming of the 2026 Classified Employees of the Year, Counselor of the Year and Media Specialist of the Year. The 2026-27 Teachers of the Year were celebrated and the District Teacher of the Year, Jane Burke (SHS), was revealed and surprised with a check and free Chick-Fil-A for a year! Thank you to our Partners In Education Chick-Fil-A, Food Depot, Brightmoor, Marukan Vinegar and First Baptist Church who helped make this event great, especially Oak Hill Church for their generosity, hospitality and support! It is “Game On” for this school year!

Attention GSCS CTAE Students and Families: Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) pathways are designed to prepare students for college, careers, military service, and industry opportunities through hands-on learning and credentialing opportunities.
As part of completing a CTAE pathway, students are required by the state of Georgia to complete an End of Pathway Assessment (EOPA) or approved credentialing exam. These exams not only fulfills the state pathway completion requirements, but also provides students with opportunities to earn industry-recognized certifications that can support future employment and career advancement. Congratulations to Spalding High FCCLA team, Anthony Reed and Jaiya Taylor, who took 2nd place at Nationals in D.C. last week in Instructional Video Design. SHS Culinary Instructor Chef Moreno has done a wonderful job leading this team and we are grateful for his commitment and support.

On May 26, the GSCS Board of Education approved the superintendent’s recommendation to appoint Dr. Stephanie Nash as the 2026-27 principal of Jordan Hill Elementary School.
Dr. Nash has been in public education for nearly three decades. She joins GSCS from Lamar County Schools, where she served as the assistant principal and pre-k director of Lamar County Primary School for 10 years. Before that role, Dr. Nash served as an assistant principal for Crisp and Morgan County Schools. READ MORE: https://aptg.co/mtLYDs

Dr. Chad Chisolm Named Principal at Moore Elementary. On May 26, the Griffin-Spalding County School System (GSCS) Board of Education approved the superintendent’s recommendation to appoint Dr. Chad Chisolm as the principal of Moore Elementary School. Dr. Chisolm brings nearly two decades of experience in school administration, curriculum development and leadership to Moore Elementary. He most recently served as a GSCS School Improvement Coordinator, where he provided instructional leadership focused on supporting teachers and student achievement. Dr. Chisolm began his career in education as a paraprofessional with Atlanta Public Schools. He then served as a teacher with Atlanta Public Schools and Henry County Schools, as an instructional coach with Clayton County Schools and as a building administrator with Butts and Henry County Schools.
