Yesterday was the annual GSCS district-wide event called "Real Men Read". This event models the importance of education and literacy for students. 112 men took the time to read to students in classrooms at all 11 GSCS elementary schools. Thank you to all of the volunteers who shared their time and influence to read to our students! We have a similar event in the fall for ladies in the community to read to students. If you'd like to read to, or mentor, a student on a regular basis, please contact

Futral Road Elementary followed closely in second place, and Cowan Road Elementary completed the top three, taking home the third-place trophy. The other schools that participated were Anne Street, Beaverbrook, Jackson Road, Moreland Road and Orrs Elementary.
