Today, Rehoboth Road Middle School Eighth Grade Student Tavares Stinson was named a recipient of a $10,000 REACH Georgia Scholarship!
Tavares and his mother signed a contract that he will maintain a 2.5 GPA, have good attendance, remain crime, drug and behavior issue free and meet with a volunteer mentor and academic coach until he graduates from high school. Once he completes all program requirements he will receive $10,000 to be used towards the cost of attending a Georgia HOPE-eligible post-secondary institution (college, university or technical college) of his choice.
Local investments were made for each scholarship in the amount of $1,500 by Chick-Fil-A of Griffin, Brightmoor Hospice, Kiwanis Club of Griffin, Marukan Vinegar and Rotary Club of Griffin.
GSCS awards five eight grade students to receive this scholarship each year. The other scholarships were awarded in November. GSCS was notified that one prior REACH scholar moved out of state and was no longer eligible which allowed the district to select an additional eighth grader.
Congratulations Tavares!

Our classified staff are often the first to greet our students each morning and the last to wave goodbye each afternoon. They keep our schools and grounds safe and clean. They help students learn by supporting technology, providing meals and encouraging them. Our schools would not be the same without them. Join us in thanking all of them as we celebrate Classified Staff Appreciation Week!
