This week, Dino the Dalmatian from Griffin Fire visited all elementary schools to deliver free fair tickets to all students. The Spalding County Kiwanis Fair is September 9-14. Attention SHS & FRE Families: The water main repair project, affecting SHS and Futral Road Elementary, has been successfully completed. All school operations will return to normal tomorrow.
The water main break impacting Spalding High School and Futral Road Elementary School will take five to six hours to repair. For parents who would like to check their students out of school, this will be considered an excused absence. For working parents unable to pick your child up from school, we will have bottled water, portable toilets and portable hand washing stations. We will continue normal school activities including regular school lunch and regular dismissal. All after school activities will continue as usual.

Nominations close Sept. 5 for the 2025 Griffin-Spalding County School System Educator Hall of Fame Class of 2025 inductees. Don't miss out on nominating an exemplary GSCS educator! The Griffin High School Band of Gold has been invited to the National Veterans Day Parade, which will be held in Washington, D.C., November 7-10, 2025. This is a huge honor for the school and band program, as we will represent not only the city of Griffin but also the state of Georgia. Today, over 500 GSCS middle and high school student-athletes attended the Beyond Self Athletes' Assembly. The Punchline Pastor taught them many important life lessons, including: "No apologies, just standards;" "You can't reach high places with low standards;" "Learn to say no with confidence" and to "Learn to change yourself before you cheat yourself."
GSCS is producing its first-ever district-wide musical! Auditions are open to all GSCS students in grades K–12. Auditions will be held this Saturday, August 16th. For more information, contact jennifer.wilson@gscs.org.
