
Griffin-Spalding Partners in Education (PIE) invites the community to a magical morning of holiday cheer as families are invited to Meet Santa. The event will take place on Saturday, December 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Griffin’s Morgan Hall, located at 8th Street.
Admission is free! The event is sponsored by U-Save It Pharmacy and Claxton Hobbs Pharmacy. Guests are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to be donated to the local community food bank. Donations will be accepted and used to fund field trip scholarships for students.

For a cash donation (minimum $5), children can explore Santa’s Workshop, where they’ll create reindeer food, write letters to Santa, color Christmas pictures and engage in other holiday crafts under the guidance of Santa’s cheerful elves.

FINAL Immunization Deadline is Tomorrow, November 22! All Pre-K, Kindergarten, 7th or 11th grade students without updated immunization records will be sent home tomorrow, November 22, until updated records are received. Acceptable records include an updated Form 3231, a Medical Waiver (good for one year), a notarized Religious Waiver, or an appointment card. Please contact your school nurse with any questions or concerns.

Today GSCS middle and high school winter athletes participated in the Beyond Self Athlete's Assembly, led by Community Partner and Mentor David Johnson. The Beyond Self Athlete Program is meant to grow student leadership skills, build character and improve school culture. Athletes were told they are all Persons Of Influence (POI) and the importance of the 3 R's: Respect Yourself, Respect Others and Take Responsibility. Key Note Speaker Marlin Lynch III (Pastor Mo) shared the importance of discovering their purpose and making positive life choices. Words of wisdom from Pastor Mo included:
"Know your self-worth and add taxes"
"Stay focused"
"Stop asking people for directions who haven't been where you are going"

On November 3-5, nine Spalding High School (SHS) Students participated in the 80th Annual Georgia Youth Assembly which is a three-day mock legislature in which students travel to the state Capitol to learn the ins and outs of the legislative process and what it’s like to be a lawmaker.
Approximately 1000 bills were submitted from Georgia high school students and the top 100 were taken to the floor of the House or Senate for full debate and vote. SHS Students submitted three bills and all three were selected to the top 100 to go to the floor at the state Capitol.

The Georgia Department of Education is recognizing schools with exceptional achievement or growth in mathematics as Math Leaders. Schools are recognized for achievement or growth in the percentage of students scoring at the Proficient Learner level or above in mathematics. Congratulations to Jackson Road Elementary, Carver Road Middle & Griffin High for being named first-ever Math Leader Schools! Great work!
